Research on flocculation conditions and coking wastewatertreatment of Microbial Flocculants

Wei Xiaojin,Li Jing,He Xuwen

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 2,   Pages 88-91

Abstract:

One strain of Bacillus SP. from the activated sludge is able to produce a stable and efficient bio- flocculation. The flocculation properties and application of this microbial flocculants in wastewater treatment are studied. The results show that the optimum flocculation can be reached in conditions as follows: above pH 7.0, the dosage of coagulation aid CaCl2 is 5.0 % , the flocculants dosage is 0.2 % , and the centrifugal condition of flocculants broth is 4 000 r/min min and last for 30 min. In the optimum flocculation condition the strain boasts obvious coagulation efficiency in wastewater treatment with produced bio- flocculation.

An introduction to the medicinal plant genome project

Shilin Chen, Li Xiang, Xu Guo, Qiushi Li

Frontiers of Medicine 2011, Volume 5, Issue 2,   Pages 178-184 doi: 10.1007/s11684-011-0131-0

Abstract: In recent years, genomics has developed rapidly with the application of next-generation sequencing technology. However, very few studies have been carried out on genomics for medicinal plants. This paper introduces the genome research of medicinal plants, including genome sequencing, assembly, annotation, and functional genomics, to set up the foundation for the development of natural medicines and the selection of cultivars with good agricultural traits. This study places the study on traditional Chinese medicine into the frontier field of life science.
